Welcome
The Health Careers Academy is in the process of an exciting expansion! We are building a new Health Careers Academy facility and remodeling our Wellness Center. This new wing will have a large state of the art demonstration room, that will include a simulation lab. In addition, it will have two equipped science rooms and Sports Medicine facilities.
Our Goal
The primary goal of the San Marcos Health Careers Academy is to teach our students job readiness skills by incorporating frequent hands-on instructional activities that are developed with our industry and post-secondary partners. We provide a wide variety of health career experiences so that, upon graduation, students will be prepared for skilled entry-level jobs and entrance into colleges, universities or technical schools.
In addition, all students are strongly encouraged to join and participate in Health Occupation Students of America, which is an integral part of our academy. The strong commitment from our business and education partners helps us to provide the link between high school, post-secondary education, and the world of work.
OUR MISSION
The San Marcos Health Careers Academy prepares students with the academic and technical foundation to succeed in post-secondary health care career education and the health care industry.
Students will leave the academy as responsible, productive citizens in a global society and will be able to apply their practical knowledge and critical thinking skills to real-life situations. The Health Careers Academy will provide fair and equitable learning experiences to ensure the success of each student and the development of his/her educational and career goals.
ADMISSION PROCESS
The Health Careers Academy is designed for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders.
Students should complete the interest statement during their Freshman year and this should be submitted electronically through this website.
The Health Careers Academy strives to offer opportunities for all types of students.
